Saturday seen the IOM Ladies team take part in round one of the Ladies National team series in Milton Keynes.

After a long journey down, as we always have from the island, the team familiarised themselves with the circuit which was 30 laps of the Milton Keynes bowl. A fast yet demanding closed circuit.

Race day had 70 starters from some of the county's top teams all competing for race results plus team points toward the overall season long series.

We had Emily Looker, Hannah Howitt, Beckie Storie, Sacha Quine, and Carrie Wernham representing the team. (With the growth of the Ladies team over the last year especially, we can now field a full team in these races, which is great for IOM ladies cycling, which is growing all the time.)

On race day, the team was ready to go, and started right at the front.
The pace was on straight away, with the strong experienced teams pushing the pace lap after lap until the group eventually split.

Hannah and Becky stayed in the front group, which in Hannah's case was exceptional considering this was her first ever road race. (both Beckie and Hannah come from Triathlon).

Emily, and Carrie hung in until the pace really went up but then continued in groups behind the front group to finish the race and gain valuable experience.
Sacha rode very well, leading a group of about 8 riders, and also taking top spot in the sprint to the line from that group.

Beckie ended up 14th, and Hannah 24th in the sprint to the line from the front group.

This was a great start to the season and a promising show for what's left to come.

Thank you very much to our continued support from Conister Bank, Mac Group IOM, Ocean Motor Village, and IOM Steam Packet.
Without the support of our sponsors, none of this would be possible.
