Benefits of a Bike Fitting

Benefits of having a good bike fitting

  • Injury prevention - Having a good position on the bike ensures we're not putting our bodies under any unnecessary strain.
If you think of the thousands of repetitions we make on just a short bike ride, that all adds up to what can be a recipe for disaster if your tolerance is low.
I see many clients who've found cycling through using cycling as part of their rehab, knee injuries being a major one. Making sure you are now correctly fitted to the bike is a must to make sure that recuperation can take place without further damage.

  • Comfort - We ride our bikes because we enjoy it, so make sure you're comfortable. If you're comfortable, that enjoyment will last and you'll look forward to each bike ride.
Comfort can come from altering the bike position itself, or by recommending various equipment changes to make sure what you have works for you.
Saddles being the number one issue I see during fittings. A lot of people will persevere with an uncomfortable saddle because it came on their new bike. Please for the sake of your behind look at other options. I say that, but really saddles are one of the key elements to stability on the bike, which goes right back to injury prevention.

  • Efficiency - A good fitting ensures your position is dialled in for how your body works. We would all love to look like the sleak pro cyclist who can bend like a pretzel, but most of us wouldn't be very efficient by trying to do so.
During a fitting talk about pedalling dynamics, how you can improve it, what area you may be struggling with. For my fittings, I'm more than happy to give you a full run down on how you can be more efficient on the bike.

There are of course many other reasons to have a fitting done, but those are my key areas.

Treat yourself and look after your body, if you do, its going to last you far longer.

Covid-19 Precautions

Good news that I can reopen most of my business on June 1st.

It'll be good to see both old and new clients coming in for the various services I offer.

As a precaution to both yourself and me, I'll be following the guidelines on staying safe while doing any bike fittings or making insoles.

Some things I will have to follow are only allowing 1 person at a time in the studio unless you are underage. In that case the parent or guardian can wait in the joining waiting room with the door open.
If you or anyone you've been in recent contact with has shown any symptoms of covid-19, please contact me before hand.

Other items are as follows:

  • On arrival please ring the doorbell at the bottom of the stairs on the black mailbox
  • I'll come down to bring your bike upstairs
  • Follow me up where you will find a face mask and hand sanitiser, please fit the facemark first
  • I'll point you to a seat while I get your bike or insole station ready
  • I would recommend wearing cycle clothing under your everyday clothes ready to go if having a bike fitting, if not I do have a changing area
  • I'll be wearing a mask and gloves at all times
  • everything you come in contact with will be sanitised before and after every visit
  • Your bike will also be sanitized once I've made all the final adjustments
Apart from a few minor precautions, everything else will be a professional service as always.

I look forward to seeing you upon arrival.
